With a career spanning more than two decades specialising in the sale of antique arms, armour and sporting guns at auction, Howard Dixon is extremely well placed to offer advice on acquisition, collection management and the sale of individual pieces or entire collections. Starting out as a junior specialist with Christie’s in the Antique Arms & Armour Department in 1996, after five years Howard moved to Holts Auctioneers, firstly as a consultant whilst working for the NRA at Bisley Camp before taking up a permanent role as a specialist. He returned to Christie’s in 2010 to head the Antique Arms, Armour & Sporting Guns Department, rising to the position of Associate Director, before establishing Howard Dixon Associates Ltd. over the summer of 2017.
Working with trusted associates, Howard Dixon Associates Ltd. offers an all-encompassing service including valuations, sales, logistics, collection inventory, photography and the sourcing of specific firearms to order.
Over the years Howard has worked with many significant collections around the world supplying valuation and sale services. He has been involved in the sale of items from notable collections including The Raglan Collection, The Barons Nathaniel and Albert von Rothschild Collection, firearms from the world-famous W. Keith Neal Collection and important pieces including the “Harriet Dean” Italian medieval broadsword from the Mamluk Armoury in Alexandria.
